Which vacuum cleaner is better?

I'm trying to buy a new vacuum that won't die on me. I've narrowed it down to two choices – Miele S163 Universal Upright Stick Vacuum Cleaner ($300), Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner ($400). Whats the best vacuum to buy? I want something good for wood floors and area rugs. Thanks!?

Try the Bissell 31020 EasyVac Plus Bare Floor Vacuum or the Hoover S2220 Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle. Both have gotten good reviews for those types of tasks.

I'd avoid a full power Dyson or other such vacuum on area rugs though. They have a tendency to suck the rug right in. (more…)
